13th Annual Path of Honor

Friday September 6-11th 2024
Putty Hill Ave. Parkville MD

We invite everyone to join us at 8 am to place a flag to Pause, Reflect and Remember those who died on 9/11 and those who have since passed due to 9/11 related cancers.

The Path of Honor was first created on the 11th anniversary of 9/11 in 2012 to remember each life lost on 9/11 by planting 2,977 American flags along Putty Hill Ave. in Parkville Maryland. In 2015 on a hillside in the Putty Hill Shopping Center parking lot we created the Field of Honor to honor the supreme sacrifice of the 158 Marylanders killed in the global war on terrorism since the 9/11 attacks.

The Path and Field are reminders to the students who attend Parkville Senior High School and the thousands of commuters who drive to work along Putty Hill Ave. that we have not forgotten 9/11.

Placement:

  • 352 flags will be placed around the Parkville Fire House in Honor of the 343 FDNY Firefighters, 8 EMT’s and 1 Fire Patrolman
  • 72 flags will be placed in front of the Parkville Police Station in Honor of the Law Enforcement Officers who Gave Their All on Tuesday September 11th 2001
  • the remaining 2,562 flags will be placed along Putty Hill Ave from Old Harford to Harford Rd, stretching over a 3/4 mile on both sides of the roadway.
